Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October of 2016 when she began getting noticed. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox posted her songs online in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued posting her music on the internet, as well as her own single Bound. In July of 2015, Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat it Out. The following year, her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 it was announced that Rihanna had signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she recorded with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his single Change in 2017. She also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. On November 9 she released two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 2013, she dropped No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. It then came out as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. This track, which was released with a video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 has been viewed over 3 million times in the first seven days. She supported the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December the year 2018.
