Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best recognized for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she earned the Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is famous as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's series NYPD Blue. The actress also starred on the drama series All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers senior executive and domestic worker was raised by four siblings. As a child she was aspired to become a reporter for the court. However, after graduating from high school and moving to New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. When she was a teenager the first time she appeared as an actor was on the 1980 soap opera All My Children. Since then Delaney has appeared in numerous film and television dramas. Personally, her professional life hasn't been a success and has not been happy. There were two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with addiction issues. In 2005, she lost custody of the sole child that she had.
